Bob Griffin is a Police
Sergeant with the Chelsea
Police Department in the City of Chelsea, Massachusetts. As a Field
Training Officer, he has been responsible for the
training of all new police officers. As the department's Criminal Justice Information
Systems (CJIS) Representative, has been the agency liaison with state
and federal computer networks. He also handles the agency's communications
systems. Additionally, he is a licensed Emergency Medical Technician, certified
Juvenile Officer, and E911 Telecommunicator.
He has completed narcotics training with the Drug Enforcement Agency
(DEA); Emergency Operations
Center training with the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA); Incident Command System training with FEMA and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency;
National Incident Based Reporting System training with the Federal
Bureau of Investigation (FBI); National Crime Information Center and Criminal Justice
Information System training with the MA Criminal
History Systems Board; Novell Network Administration training; and Law Enforcement
Dispatcher training.
Bob is also an practicing attorney in the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts. He received his JD degree from New
England School of Law in Boston. He completed a program on
International Criminal Law, Human Rights, Humanitarian Law in Armed Conflicts,
National Minorities and the right to self-determination at the Irish
Centre for Human Rights located at the National
University of Ireland, Galway. He received his BA degree in
Sociology/Justice Studies from Curry College and
his AS degree with High Honors in Criminal Justice from Bunker Hill Community College along with the
Academic Excellence and Academic Achievement Awards in Criminal Justice. While
attending college, he received a fellowship to study Spanish Language and Puerto
Rican Culture at the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico and also
studied at the Conversa Language Center in Costa
Rica.
Bob Griffin remains active outside the police department. He is a Petty
Officer First Class in the United States Naval Reserve and a former Staff Sergeant in the
Massachusetts Military Reserve (State Guard); member of the State Guard Association of the United States; a member of
the Massachusetts Police Association; on the Board
of Directors of the Chelsea YMCA; is Chairman of the Chelsea Republican City Committee; a
member of the Chelsea Yacht Club; a member of the Polish Political Club; a PADI certified SCUBA diver; a life member of the National Rifle Association and certified firearms
instructor; a licensed amateur radio operator (KB1DGH) and member of the Amateur Radio Relay League.
